In 2002 The Queen celebrated 50 years on the Throne. There were lots of special events during the summer of 2002. The Queen and Prince Philip travelled all around the UK and abroad to countries in the Commonwealth to meet as many people as possible.

The national celebrations were held over a long weekend at the start of June, and included a pop concert at Buckingham Palace, a service of thanksgiving at St. Paul's Cathedral, and a carnival down the Mall to Buckingham Palace.
