DEATH

Princess Margaret died on Saturday 9th February 2002 at 6.30 am, in The King Edward VII Hospital, London. Her children, Lord Linley and Lady Sarah Chatto, were at her side.

Aged 71, the Princess had suffered a stroke the previous afternoon, and developed cardiac problems during the night. She was taken from Kensington Palace to The King Edward VII Hospital during the night.

The announcement of the Princess's death was issued by Buckingham Palace at 08.30 am.

News of the Princess's death prompted many tributes from political and religious leaders and around the UK, Commonwealth and world. Members of the public also sent messages of sympathy in the on-line condolence book on this web site.
