Royal ceremonies are colourful and fascinating events to watch. Members of the public can view many of them at different times throughout the year.
Many colourful ceremonial events take place on a regular or annual basis. This page contains a brief overview of public events with Royal associations in 2008.



JANUARY 2008

Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace (even days) and Windsor Castle (odd days).

FEBRUARY 2008

Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace (odd days) and Windsor Castle (even days).

6 Accession Day, marked by gun salutes in Hyde Park at 12.00 midday and at the Tower of London at 1.00 p.m.. Free public access.

MARCH 2008

Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace (even days) and Windsor Castle (odd days).

13 Commonwealth Day Observance, Westminster Abbey.
20 Royal Maundy Service at St. Patrick's Church of Ireland Cathedral, Armagh.
26 State Visit from His Excellency M. Nicolas Sarkozy, President of the French Republic. There will be a ceremonial welcome on Horse Guards Parade, London.


APRIL 2008


Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace (odd days) and Windsor Castle (daily).

21 The Queen's 82nd birthday, marked by gun salutes in Hyde Park at 12.00 midday and at the Tower of London at 1.00 p.m.. Free public access.

MAY 2008

Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle; daily.


JUNE 2008

Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle; daily.

2 Anniversary of The Queen's Coronation, marked by gun salutes in Hyde Park at 12.00 midday and at the Tower of London at 1.00 p.m.. Free public access.  

10 Birthday of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, marked by gun salutes in Hyde Park at 12.00 midday and at the Tower of London at 1.00 p.m.. Free public access.

14 The Queen's Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour) at 11.00 am on Horse Guards Parade, London. Applications for tickets must be received by HQ Household Division by the beginning of March 2008. Gun salutes will be fired in Hyde Park and at the Tower of London.

16 Service for the Order of the Garter at St. George's Chapel, Windsor.

JULY 2008

TBC Garden Parties at Buckingham Palace.

AUGUST 2008
