King George V and Queen Mary in their Coronation Robes in June 1911. Queen Mary was well known for her interest in furniture and the decorative arts , and the dolls' house was conceived as a demonstration of British craftsmanship and manufacturing skill as well as a tribute to the Royal Family after the First World War.
