This drawing of an ancient Roman banquet scene was made for the seventeenth-century Italian collector Cassiano dal Pozzo and entered the Royal Collection in 1762. It shows the diners reclining on sofas around the three sides of a central table (triclinium), while their food and drink is brought to them by servants
