Tennis was an Olympic event from 1896. The British team was particularly successful at the 1920 Games, held in Antwerp. In the same year the future King George VI won a notable competition (the Air Force Cup), as described in this letter of July 1920 to his father, King George V. At the end of the letter he commented: 'I don't think I have ever played so well in my life, and I did not lose my head at the critical moment which was very lucky'
