In this letter dated 23 August 1855, written from St Cloud in the course of her visit to France, Queen Victoria describes her impressions of Paris to her uncle, King Leopold I of the Belgians. This was Queen Victoria's first visit to Paris. She and Prince Albert were the guests of Emperor Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie following the successful imperial visit to England four months earlier. Read a transcription of the letter.
