The Court Circular is the authoritative, historical record of official engagements of members of the Royal Family. It features details of places visited in the UK and overseas, duties undertaken, Royal audiences and meetings held by members of the Royal Family, ceremonies attended, and official Royal appointments.

An account of the previous day's Royal engagements is printed daily in the British newspapers The Times, The Daily Telegraph and The Scotsman, as well as appearing online here.

BUCKINGHAM PALACE: His Excellency Mr. Chun Yung-woo was received in audience by The Queen today and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from the Republic of Korea to the Court of St. James's.

Mrs. Chun Yungsoon was also received by Her Majesty.

Her Excellency Mrs. Inaam Osseiran was received in audience by The Queen and presented the Letters of Recall of her predecessor and her own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from the Lebanese Republic to the Court of St. James's.

Sir Peter Ricketts (Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs) was present.

The Hon. Pierre Duchesne was received in audience by The Queen upon his appointment as Lieutenant Governor of Quebec.

Madame Ginette Lamoureux was also received by Her Majesty.

The Queen held a Council at 5.30 p.m..

There were present: the Baroness Royall of Blaisdon, the Rt. Hon. Geoffrey Hoon MP, the Rt. Hon. Peter Mandelson and the Rt. Hon. Dawn Primarolo MP (Minister of State, Department of Health).

Mr. James Murphy MP and Mr. Liam Byrne MP were sworn in as members of Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council.

Lord Carloway made affirmation as a member of Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council.

The Baroness Royall of Blaisdon took the Oath of Office and kissed hands upon appointment as Lord President of the Council.

The Rt. Hon. Peter Mandelson took the Oath of Office as President of the Board of Trade and Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, kissed hands upon appointment and received the Seals of Office.

The Rt. Hon. James Murphy MP took the Oath of Office as Secretary of State for Scotland, kissed hands upon appointment and received the Seals of Office.

The Rt. Hon. Geoffrey Hoon MP made affirmation as Secretary of State for Transport, kissed hands upon appointment and received the Seals of Office.

Miss Judith Simpson was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.

After the Council the Rt. Hon. Liam Byrne MP had an audience of Her Majesty and took the Oath of Office, kissed hands upon appointment and received the Seals of Office as Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster.

BUCKINGHAM PALACE: The Duke of York this morning visited Maltby Crags Infants and Junior School, Blyth Road, Maltby, Rotherham, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of South Yorkshire (Mr. David Moody).

His Royal Highness, Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, afterwards visited ELG Haniel Metals Limited, Raglan Street, Hyde.

The Duke of York, Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, this afternoon visited the Factory of the Future at the University of Sheffield's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre with Boeing, Wallis Way, Rotherham.

His Royal Highness later visited Sheffield Park Academy, Beaumont Close, Sheffield.

BUCKINGHAM PALACE: The Earl of Wessex, Honorary Liveryman, the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers, this morning attended a Charities Committee Meeting at Haberdashers' Hall, 18 West Smithfield, London EC1.

His Royal Highness, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, this afternoon attended a Committee Meeting at Buckingham Palace.

The Earl of Wessex, Patron, Real Tennis Professionals Association, this evening attended the Finals of the European Tennis Open Singles Championships and Dinner at the Marylebone Cricket Club, Lord's Ground, London NW8.

The Countess of Wessex, Patron, Lions Clubs International, Multiple District 105, British Isles and Ireland, this morning attended a Reception for World Sight Day at the Manor Hotel, Datchet, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire (the Hon. Mrs. Mary Bayliss).

Her Royal Highness this afternoon received Commander David Shutts RN upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer, HMS DARING, and Captain Paul Bennett RN upon assuming the appointment.

BUCKINGHAM PALACE: The Princess Royal this morning opened the Perry Tree Centre, Dovedale Road, Kingstanding, Birmingham, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of West Midlands (Mr. Paul Sabapathy).

Her Royal Highness this afternoon visited the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine, Selly Oak Hospital, Raddlebarn Road, Birmingham.

The Princess Royal, Patron, the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education, later launched the Workplace Public Sector Programme at Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Services, 61 Whitehall, London SW1, and was received by Sir Michael Craig-Cooper (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Transaid, this evening attended the Tenth Anniversary Gala Ball at the Imperial War Museum, Lambeth Road, London SE1.

KENSINGTON PALACE: The Duke of Gloucester this morning opened the Headquarters of the Royal British Legion, Victoria Road, Camberley, and was received by Miss Penelope Keith (Deputy Lieutenant of Surrey).

His Royal Highness this afternoon visited the Fire and Iron Foundry, Oxshott Road, Leatherhead, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey (Mrs. Timothy Goad).

The Duke of Gloucester afterwards opened Runnymeade Civic Centre, Station Road, Addlestone, Surrey.

THATCHED HOUSE LODGE RICHMOND PARK: Princess Alexandra, President, Friends of the Elderly, was represented by Mr. Kerry Rubie (Chairman) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Lady Trend (Vice President) which was held in Westminster Abbey, London SW1, this morning.
