The Chapels Royal

History Today Visiting Services Choir

Services are held in the Chapel Royal or The Queen's Chapel on Sundays throughout the year, except for August and September:
In the Chapel Royal from the first Sunday in October to Good Friday inclusive.
In The Queen's Chapel from Easter Sunday to the last Sunday in July inclusive.

Members of the public are welcome to attend these services.

The two chapels are also used for certain Royal ceremonies.

Each year the feast of Epiphany is celebrated on 6 January in the Chapel Royal with a service of Holy Communion, when an offering of gold, frankincense and myrrh is made on behalf of The Queen.

Both chapels have been used in recent years for the lying-in-state of members of the Royal Family. The coffins of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and HRH The Princess Margaret lay in state at The Queen's Chapel, while that of Diana, Princess of Wales lay in the Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace.
