The Wounded Soldier's Dream by A. Laby, c.1855. In Britain the condition of the troops in the Crimea became a major issue. For the first time journalists were present in the Crimea, reporting that thousands more were dying of disease than from military action. In the popular print 'The Wounded Soldier's Dream', Queen Victoria rewards the soldier's service with a medal.
