In 1805 the landscape gardener Humphry Repton was invited by the future George IV to submit designs for the garden of his seaside home, the Brighton Pavilion. Repton's ideas were published in 1808 but were never implemented; the architect John Nash was instead employed to design both the garden and the Pavilion. This view - with the 'flaps' of the illustration raised - shows the garden after improvement. For the view of the unimproved garden, see the previous image.
