Watercolour of State Banquet at Windsor Castle

This watercolour of St George's Hall at Windsor Castle records the state banquet given by Queen Victoria for King Louis-Philippe on 11 October 1844. As with state banquets held in the room today, the dining table runs the full length of the room. Magnificent displays of gold and silver gilt were installed at either end of the room. In the left foreground the procession is led by Queen Victoria (in black) with King Louis-Philippe; Prince Albert is shown in a scarlet jacket behind.
