Tricolore ribbon and Chunnel medal

This fragment of red, white and blue lace is taken from the piece of lace used at the inauguration ceremony for the Channel Tunnel in 1994. The Tunnel was formally inaugurated when the lace was cut by both President Mitterand of France and HM The Queen at a ceremony in Calais on 6 May 1994. President Mitterand presented this piece of lace to The Queen after the inauguration. The inauguration is commemorated in the gilded bronze medal.
