Prince Albert (later George VI) about to fly to northern France during the First World War

Prince Albert (later King George VI), the first member of the Royal Family to serve in the Air Force, prepares for a flight to northern France where he was serving during the First World War. 25 years after the formation of the RAF, King George VI wrote a telegram stating: "To me personally it is an anniversary of great significance...on this day in...1918...there began for me an association of which I have never been prouder than I am today."
