Members of the Royal Family, the Household of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and the regiments associated with The Queen Mother will join in a solemn procession in which the coffin of The Queen Mother will be taken from St. James's Palace to Westminster Hall to Lie-in-State.

The coffin of The Queen Mother will be taken in procession from The Queen's Chapel, St. James's Palace to Westminster Hall on the morning of Friday, 5th April, 2002. Members of the public may view this procession from points along the route.

The processional route is:-
Marlborough Road
The Mall
Horse Guards Road
Horse Guards Parade
Horse Guards Arch
Whitehall
Parliament Square (East Side)
New Palace Yard (South Side)
The Processional Route is lined by the Armed Forces.

The procession will leave St. James's Palace at around 11.25am, when the coffin will be carried from the Catafalque in The Queen's Chapel to the Gun Carriage in Marlborough Road.

Members of the Royal Family will join the Procession following the Coffin. The Procession will also include members of the regiments with which The Queen Mother was involved and representatives of the Household of The Queen Mother.

The Bearer Party will comprise representatives of some of the regiments with which The Queen Mother was associated, including The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment), The Light Infantry, The Royal Anglian Regiment, The King's Regiment, 9th/12th Royal Lancers (Prince of Wales's), The Queen's Royal Hussars (The Queen's Own and Royal Irish), 1st The Queen's Dragoon Guards and HMS Ark Royal. The coffin will be relayed on a gun carriage drawn by The King's Troop, with the crown of The Queen Mother placed on top.

At 11.30 am the procession will leave for Westminster Hall. Minute guns will be fired by The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery from Green Park during the course of the Procession. The St. James's Palace Detachment of The Queen's Guard and The Queen's Life Guard will give a Royal Salute as the cortege passes. A Guard of Honour in Parliament Square will give a Royal Salute as the gun carriage enters New Palace Yard.

At around midday, the procession will enter Westminster Hall. Present in the Hall will be representatives of both Houses - Members of the House of Lords on the West side of Westminster Hall, and Members of the House of Commons on the East side.

The Bearer Party will place the Coffin on the Catafalque, where The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, members of the Royal Family and The Queen Mother's family, and members of the two Royal Households will gather as the Archbishop of Canterbury says prayers. Four Officers of the Household Cavalry will then form the first Vigil of the Watch at the four corners of the Coffin, before The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh and members of the Royal Family leave the Hall.
