HRH The Duke of York

His Royal Highness The Prince Andrew was created Duke of York, Earl of Inverness and Baron Killyleagh on the occasion of his marriage to Miss Sarah Ferguson on 23 July 1986.

The title Duke of York has been given usually to the second son of the Monarch. Previous incumbents included Henry VIII, King George V (the Duke’s great-grandfather) and King George VI (the Duke’s grandfather).

The Duke is known in Inverness by the title Earl of Inverness and in Killyleagh, Northern Ireland, as Baron Killyleagh.
