HRH The Duke of Kent

The afternoons provide the opportunity for The Duke of Kent to visit places and organisations, often outside London.

Such engagements may include visits to locations as diverse as lifeboat stations, magistrates courts, hospices, dockyards, museums and technology companies.

The purpose of visits is equally wide-ranging. The Duke may lay the foundation stone of a new building or officially open a completed project, unveil a commemorative plaque to mark an anniversary, or launch a community project or fundraising appeal.

The Duke might present an organisation with an award such as The Queen's Award for International Trade and Sustainable Development or The Queen’s Award for Innovation.

The programme for the day could also include attendance at a service of commemoration or the unveiling of a memorial.

The late afternoon is spent in preparing for the official evening engagements which The Duke of Kent may attend on a number of nights each week.
