The Countess of Wessex is a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO).

The Royal Victorian Order was instituted by Queen Victoria in 1896 as a reward for personal service to the Sovereign. There are five classes: Member (MVO), Lieutenant (LVO), Commander (CVO), Knight or Dame Commander (KCVO), Knight or Dame Grand Cross (GCVO).
