The Summer Opening of the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace
The Royal Household

Each summer during August and September the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace open to the public for eight weeks.

As part of the tour of the Palace, visitors also enjoy a special exhibition in one of the State Rooms. Previous exhibitions have included: Her Majesty’s evening dresses and personal jewellery, Her Majesty’s Coronation gown, Her Majesty’s wedding dress, and the Ballroom set up for a State Banquet.

Visitors arrive at the Visitor Entrance on Buckingham Palace Road, where they are welcomed by members of the Warden team, deposit their bags and collect a complimentary audio tour. After visiting the nineteen State Rooms and the special exhibition, they walk out into the Palace garden where they can buy a souvenir of their visit from the shop. Before leaving, visitors can enjoy a walk along the south side of the Palace garden, past the famous lake.
