Case study - Royal Household Green Champions
Royal Household Green Champions
The Royal Household

In June 2007 a group of Green Champions from the Royal Household undertook a challenge to transform an overgrown garden at Vittoria Primary School in Islington, London.

It was a long, hard day but thankfully the weather was fine and moving eight tonnes of soil did not put the volunteers off.

The main challenge was the masses of bindweed which had taken over the garden. This had to be dug out which proved a very long and hard process.

Under the weeds we found loads of lost toys, including balls of various shapes and sizes, a menagerie of animals including a lion, a crocodile, a dinosaur and also a rubber hamburger bun! Once all the weeding and soil filling was complete the planting could begin.

A great day was had by all and a lovely garden created for the future enjoyment of the children at Vittoria Primary School.
