The Queen and the Commonwealth

The Queen is a constitutional monarch, acting entirely on the advice of her Government ministers in the Solomon Islands. She is fully briefed by means of regular communications from her ministers.

Her Majesty is represented in the Solomon Islands on a day-to-day basis by a Governor-General. He or she is appointed by The Queen on the advice of the ministers of the Solomon Islands and is completely independent of the British Government.

The present Governor-General is His Excellency Sir Frank Kabui GCMG CSI OBE..

The Queen maintains direct contact with the Governor-General, although she delegates executive power to them in virtually every respect.
