The Queen and the Commonwealth

The Queen is a constitutional monarch, acting entirely on the advice of her Government ministers in St Vincent and the Grenadines. She is fully briefed by means of regular communications from her ministers.

Her Majesty is represented in St Vincent and the Grenadines on a day-to-day basis by a Governor-General. He or she is appointed by The Queen on the advice of the ministers of St Vincent and the Grenadines and is completely independent of the British Government.

The present Governor-General is His Excellency Sir Frederick Ballantyne GCMG.

The Queen maintains direct contact with the Governor-General, although she delegates executive power to the Governor-General in virtually every respect.
