The Queen and the Commonwealth

The Queen is a constitutional monarch, acting entirely on the advice of her Government ministers in St Christopher and Nevis. She is fully briefed by means of regular communications from her ministers.

Her Majesty is represented in St Christopher and Nevis on a day-to-day basis by a Governor-General. He or she is appointed by The Queen on the advice of the ministers of St Christopher and Nevis and is completely independent of the British Government.

The present Governor-General is His Excellency Sir Cuthbert Sebastian GCMG OBE.

The Queen maintains direct contact with the Governor-General, although she delegates executive power to the Governor-General in virtually every respect.
