The Queen and the Commonwealth

The Queen is represented in Commonwealth Realms by Governors-General, who carry out the duties of Head of State.

The Queen is a constitutional monarch, acting entirely on the advice of her Government ministers in Grenada. She is fully briefed by means of regular communications from her ministers.

Her Majesty is represented in Grenada on a day-to-day basis by a Governor-General. He or she is appointed by The Queen on the advice of the ministers of Grenada and is completely independent of the British Government.

The present Governor-General is His Excellency Carlyle Glean.

The Queen maintains direct contact with the Governor-General, although she delegates executive power to the Governor-General in virtually every respect.
