THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT IS ISSUED BY THE PRESS SECRETARY TO THE QUEEN

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Weekend 2012 –
Processional Route on Tuesday 5th June

Buckingham Palace today published details of The Queen’s processional route from Westminster Hall, the Palace of Westminster, to Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, 5th June.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Henry of Wales will travel by carriages following a Diamond Jubilee lunch at Westminster Hall, to be given for The Queen by the Livery.

The three carriages will leave New Palace Yard and process up Whitehall, to Trafalgar Square, through Admiralty Arch and down the Mall, through the Centre Gates at Buckingham Palace.

The Queen and Prince Philip will be using the 1902 State Landau in this procession.

NOTES TO EDITORS

1. Also today, the government has announced the opening of a public ballot for UK residents to apply for a seat to watch the Diamond Jubilee celebrations on Tuesday 5th June. 10,000 members of the public will get the opportunity to enjoy the day’s events free of charge from seats in place around the Queen Victoria Memorial outside Buckingham Palace. 2. Today’s announcement follows the announcement made by Buckingham Palace on 22nd March 2012. The lunch at Westminster Hall will be attended by a small number of representatives from sponsoring livery companies, with the vast majority of the guest list of approximately 700 comprising people from all over the country whose trade, craft or profession is represented by one of the many different liveries taking part in the event, together with the charities, schools and other organisations they support.

3. The Jubilee Weekend features an extra Bank Holiday for the Diamond Jubilee, with the late May Bank Holiday moved one week later, thereby making a 4-day long weekend. The government announced the extra Bank Holiday for the Diamond Jubilee on 5th January 2010.

4. The central weekend, from Saturday 2nd to Tuesday 5th June includes the following events:
- Saturday 2nd June, 2012 - The Queen will attend the Epsom Derby.
- Sunday 3rd June, 2012 - The Big Jubilee Lunch and the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant.
- Monday 4th June, 2012 - BBC Concert at Buckingham Palace and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Beacons.
- Tuesday 5th June, 2012 - Service of Thanksgiving and Carriage Procession.
