Announcement of the winner of The Queen's Medal for Music 2011
The Queen has approved the award of Her Majesty’s Medal for Music to oboist and conductor Nicholas Daniel. The prize, established in 2005, is awarded to an outstanding individual or group of musicians who have had a major influence on the musical life of the nation.

Statements regarding The Duke of Edinburgh's health, 24 December 2011

Friday 23 December 2011:
HRH The Duke of Edinburgh was taken to Papworth Cardiothoracic Hospital in Cambridge this evening, from Sandringham, for precautionary tests after experiencing chest pains.

Friday 23 December 2011: Following tests at Papworth Cardiothoracic Hospital in Cambridge this evening, The Duke of Edinburgh was found to have a blocked coronary artery which had caused his chest pains.

This was treated successfully by the minimally invasive procedure of coronary stenting. Prince Philip will remain in hospital under observation for a short period.

Saturday 24 December 2011: The Queen, The Duke of York, The Earl of Wessex and The Princess Royal arrived from Sandringham to Papworth by helicopter just before 11am.

They were met by Mr Stephen Bridge, Chief Executive, and Professor John Cunningham, physician to The Queen.

The visit lasted for 45 minutes. Prince Philip was in good spirits.

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall arrived by car from Highgrove 45 minutes later.

No further visits by the family expected. The Queen will remain briefed.

He will remain in hospital under observation for a short period. We have no details of the release time.

Further updates will be issued when appropriate.

His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh will be discharged from Papworth Hospital this morning. He will return to Sandringham to join The Queen and other Members of the Royal Family.

His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh was discharged from Papworth Hospital this morning. He is returning to Sandringham by car.

On departure, Prince Philip thanked the staff at Papworth for the excellent care he has received during his stay.

He is very much looking forward to rejoining his family.

The Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry 2011, 23 December 2011
The Queen has approved the award of Her Majesty’s Gold Medal for Poetry for the year 2011 to Jo Shapcott.

Regional and overseas visits to mark the Diamond Jubilee, 14 December 2011
The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, will mark the Diamond Jubilee with a series of regional visits and engagements throughout the UK during 2012. In addition, Members of the Royal Family will travel overseas representing The Queen throughout the Diamond Jubilee year, visiting every Realm as well as undertaking visits to Commonwealth countries, Crown Dependencies and British Overseas Territories.
